Blogging for Nothing…?!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008
This title was chosen based on how I perceive my blogging would turn out to be. As it turned out, it could be for nothing. But on the other side, Blogging kinda helped me in improving my grades and made me do something worthwhile once in a while. Many of my friends say blogging is like an online diary where you write things that got in your thoughts or feelings that jumped out of your brain and post it in the net. Well, maybe it is. But our Blogs has definitely become like one as we are supposed to publish and show our reflections and learning, or on rare occasions a discoveries, on some subject that may or may not interests some of us at all. Now, now.  A blog can become into other things too. A Blog can be an online news journal maybe or a tutorial corner, or maybe even an online voting poll. Blogs can be very interesting for the chosen target (a type of audience which the author wants to see and appreciate his/her articles) and be very boring to the rest. And I think no one can make a Blog be interesting and captivating to everybody, whoever he/she is or how different he/she can get. People get different names and faces because each one is purely different; and as proud and powerful beings on Earth, people need distinction and individuality to continue to live, survive and evolve. Some people may like an object while at the same time, other some people hate it. From what many philosophers said, if there is something that agrees or represent an object then there must be something that disagrees or “disrepresent” that object. So you can’t say your Blog can make everybody happy now. It would be in contradiction with the essence of the individuality of one’s existence.
Despite all of these unnecessary ramblings, I do believe that everything done and produced by a person is an extension of one’s self as it can represent and reflect his character or personality one way or another. Blogging is not an exception. You can read and monitor a development of an individual’s Blog, and you may learn to see and understand his/her character or at least his/her preferences of font and theme. Returning to the subject concerned, we can say that a Blog can be a picture or an image of one’s personality. Especially if your Blog is more on the personal side rather than on the professional side. (Then what?) Then it means Blogging can be more than just posting some article or paragraphs in the Internet and waiting for someone to comment. Blogging can be a tool for professional work, a therapy for someone’s condition, or be an online diary for someone wishing that there would a person with the time and the right mind to read it. Everyone can have a blog and it is very easy to create and own one. But Blogging starts when you start to post items in it. And the difficulty lies in maintaining it and/or improving it. Why? Because people’s interests change very fast and boredom can be very lethal. (Well, you do know boredom can come from being boring.). Of course, when I mean everybody can, I meant those with the capability and enough interest, maybe you would add enough knowledge and skills. People who can’t express themselves very much usually avoid this kind of activity. There are also others like those who hate the internet or technology, those who can’t see, can’t read or understand a thing, those that don’t have the luxury (well, you can imagine what kind of luxury it is) or just plain uninterested and don’t have time. It can be a really sad to think that not everybody can enjoy Blogging and engage in this activity. And I meant “can”.
(So what the heck and tell all of this stuff?)I don’t know. I can’t relate much either. But the fact that I can’t relate or share the enthusiasm of other Bloggers basically means I can’t do Blogging. (oh, now your showing) Initially, this one was intended to be the new introduction part to this Blog. (Now why Nothing?) Nothing because as it literally means, zero. Seriously, Blogging can be nothing but a powerful tool or medium to share important or significant knowledge through one’s personal learning, reflection and discovery; and empower people to express themselves and prove their individuality to the world.
Heck, Blogging is too troublesome and a waste of time. But at least, not at what it is for. Just remember in the old days, people can die from speaking. Now nobody can stop us from blogging. Hahaha.. happy Blogging!

What leads to technology?

Friday, November 28th, 2008
The primary reason we use and exploit the most advanced and available technology today is the benefits it offers. Despite some technology having some unwanted after-effects or by-products, we still utilize its services. The most common benefits the technology may bring to mankind are:
  • Completely eradicating human intervention or involvement in menial tasks or easing the difficulty of doing such tasks
  • Giving people more options in undertaking activities such as decision-making and also providing a whole new option that may not be available when not using an advanced technology
  • Doing tasks and producing results more effective, efficient, accurate, faster, secure, dependable, and also faster and cheaper with the deployment of the technology rather than using an old technology or relying on human capabilities alone
  • In general terms, improving the quality of life

Even though technology can bring great benefits to us, we still have the liberty to use it or not. Some people choose not to use it and preserve their old ways while most are keeping track of the most advanced technology and exploits all the good things it may bring. Some of the reasons why people are going for the technology are:

  • he competition being brought upon people from the competing against other people and also keeping up with the rapid change or growth of the environment of the world where countries must not be left behind or they will be vulnerable to the more advanced countries.
  • The condition of life today is much harder than the past and the costs of living is steadily growing thus using technology would be rather practical than optional.
  • The benefits and advantages are greater than the bad things some technology brings that it is overshadowed and disregarded.

As with the saying “people change with time”, it also goes with the technology. With the rapid changing of the environment, technology must also change and improve to suit and satisfy the needs of the people. But usually, technology changes and improves in order to satisfy not the need but the insatiable hunger of human curiosity and contentment. Even though there are many other factors which drive technology to change and prosper, it can be said that this motivation is the most general and may be the root of other factors.

This is Research?!

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

When I started doing research (more specifically, only data gathering..) for choosing and proposing a research topic for my subject source (which is I am currently enrolled at.., I found it very difficult for me..personally. It is because at the present time, I wasn’t interested in anything at all, maybe those related to my chosen course. But I still thought of some good areas of research. They come from my readings of various published article. Then I proposed ideas or research topics that I only thought of that moment thus not having a very deep restrospect of what exactly it is, only that I was reminded and interested of it at that time. IMy proposal ended up having many loose ends and without an exact direction or intention. But to my delight, some people have read and gave their comments about it. What I love is a healthy discussion aimed at my points of interests so I got into discussions of my proposed topic, but what I haven’t anticipated was one of them actually had a very good idea about it and started to question about some points in my proposal. Me, having partially challenged (maybe..), enjoyed having a good discussion with this one and it ended having our professor attend and enjoyed with the progression of our discussion. That was how it was approved! Silly isn’t it..? Up until now, I don’t have pure intentions of pursuing the topic. If not for my wide area of interest, insatiable hunger for knowledge and information, and also for my great interest and pleasure in engaging in good discussions, I would not have made that proposal approved. Hehe! Pretty ironic isn’t it, specially now that I am kinda suffering for continuing to create the final proposal of the research topic. Having great difficulty since I am the type of person that doesn’t get into things that doesn’t interest me. But this experience taught me genuine things and lessons that some of those who attempted to start a research may not experience. After all, all things that came from research got through with different experiences and troubles.

So that is how I started my research. How is that for a very dull and boring person..? Hehe.. How did you start yours..?!

Philippine SONA: Identiying and Recommending IT/CS Solutions

Effective Population Control for Economic and Social Development

Over population is one of the major problems of our country today. It also causes many problems such as food shortage, lack of proper shelter, etc.. Answering to this problem may improve the state our economy as well as improving the lives of the Filipino.

Objectives:

  • to determine the severeness of the problem in terms that can be acknowledged and aspire greater concerns for the people involved and responsible.
  • to determine the significant factors contributing to the severeness of the problem
  • to design an effective solution or framework to control the population
  • to come up with an IT solution in registering families specially in the rural areas and could determine the financial capacity of the parents/ guardians
  • to create a research that could make not only the government but also the local people to be aware and take immediate and proper actions

Food Production and Distribution Management

Food shortage is another concern for the people specially when the country is dependent on agricultural productions like ours. This food sources are very vulnerable to natural phenomenons like typhoons as well as man-made/ motivated harm, i.e. price control and supply hoarding. The government must take actions to ensure that food are produced and distributed properly. Protections must be placed so no harm can be done in this sensitive area.

Objectives:

  • to determine the main causes of the local food shortages
  • to determine the vulnerable areas of food distribution
  • to determine the factors that contributes to the price increase
  • to create a solution to monitor important transactions such as food distribution/delivery and production
  • to create a framework for better food production and distribution system

Proper planning for Government Project developments

Most of the government projects in our country are coupled with scandals and issues of corruption. This is because most of the projects are done with poor planning and inadequate information. The project details are also not shared to the concerned people thus aspiring suspicions and doubts. Proper planning through simulation can grant answers to these problems as well as in controlling costs so no money are wasted thus shutting down the creation of doubts and suspicions.

Objectives:

  • to determine the logical factors of proper planning
  • to determine the major concerns of government projects
  • to create a framework for proper planning of government projects
  • to determine the advantages and benefits of simulating of government projects before the start of the development
  • to encourage the local government to use simulation or other IT solutions
