Identifying Important Factors for Top-tier Publishing
There are many factors in publishing top-tier journals and publications like in IEEE and ACM. The most common ones are the standards, which the material is rated and evaluated. These standards involve basic factors such as the significance of the research itself.,etc. However, I found out another common factor that maybe unique to each organization. There is a process in which the material submitted undergo a detailed review usually followed by a formal process of evaluation following a uniform criteria. Evaluation for technical accuracy is still required but a process which determines the materials readability is used for selected audience. These processes maybe used by many organizations but its procedures maybe distinct from each other. There is also an informal review or process in which the material is evaluated for its individual significance and gaining an individual assesment for the said material. From the perspectives of the peers from the organization like EiCs, there may be a necessary revisions asked of the author. There are also publishing of unreviewed materials in which the original content is published with or without copyediting. The reasons for this may be procedural.Reference: http://www.acm.org/publications/policies/prepub_eval
